Paperless Day

I think that I found not using paper much harder than the children did! But we had a great day, trying to clean the tables without using paper towels was the most challenging bit.

We started our 'Dig for victory campaign' planting vegetable seeds.

We baked using items which had not been rationed during the war:

And then yesterday we had some interesting faces as we tried the crumble we had baked. Some children loved it; others threw it straight in the bin :)

Let's see what next week brings...

Back to normal

Wow it feels good to be on a normal timetable and the children have definitely felt that too! I have seen some great writing this week, stories that I think could be published with a little tweaking.

Well done to Elm class for the church service this week. You were fab!

Next week should be exciting, we have NO PAPER day on Tuesday, I will try and get some pictures on the blog of the exciting activities we have planned that day next week, and then cracking comprehension for parents as well as children on Wednesday 9:00. If you haven't signed up for this yet and want to come, please let us know. It would be lovely to see as many parents as possible.

Homework:

I have checked, double checked and tripled checked this homework grid this week after the mess I made last week. Sorry about that! We all make mistakes. A couple of children have been given new English workbooks as they had last years copy and the pages didn't line up.

Week 2

So the children have spent some of their time this week practicing their very first SAT papers, and they have done so well! :) Great things looking forward in that aspect.

We also had the opportunity to go to Blackburn Museum this week and see some of the artifacts from WWII that were found in Blackburn from the 1940's. Sorry I forgot to take the camera! We now have lots of exciting ideas about what the children would like to do in their upcoming topic lessons.

It has been nice to see so many Year 6's showing the way with our new walk a km scheme that is running every morning on the playground from 8:40 - 8:50: keep it up! Exercise is good for you!

Homework this week

*note - the Revision book and SATs question books pages are the wrong way around. The children have been told this. It is four pages to read (24,25,26 & 27) and two to answer (20 & 21). It should be the pages on clauses.

Friday 8 September 2017

Back with a bang!

First, a huge thank you to the turn out for the Year 6 meeting last night, it was lovely to see so many faces. Has anyone worked out what the Subjunctive from is yet? I hope you got all the information you needed from it and if you would like anymore please pop in and see me or Miss Dunn.

Secondly, a huge thank you to the children for a fantastic first week back. Once we warmed those brains up from the 6 weeks off on Monday we were back into some amazing learning!

It has been British Values week in school this week and we have been doing some interesting things surrounding the values of our nation.

Yesterday, the children ran a polling station in school - it went very well! They helped every child in school vote on their Eco-Councillor and School Councillor. They were also responsible for counting the votes and did a fabulous job!
